View Full Version : Got into a bike accident

The other day I was on my way home from the bank when a car ahead of me was forced to slow suddenly. I guess I pulled too much front brake and the ass end shot up pretty quick. I was thrown over the bars and landed on my knees right before the bike came over and clubbed me to the ground landing on me :(

I managed to get out of it with only one broken rib and a ton of bruising. I'm just happy the bike didn't hit me and do damage to my spine.

Luckily most of the damage to the bike is cosmetic. The whole nose section (along with screen, headlight and mirrors) has to be replaced. The rear cowl has to go, the clip that holds the front end on is gone. The brake fluid reservoir snapped off and the can was totally bent in half.

We're all pretty baffled at how the can bent the way it did...still not sure how it happened.

Either way....new project I guess. I was planning to sell it in the spring.

scary to think about it but a friend of mine was reminding me of someone we know who had a similar accident and the bike landed square on her spine....paralyzed :(

Man, I hate sudden stops.
Good thing, no spine injury.
God is saying, "you still have a long way to go." :D

Go park your car near the school, or the side roads near the casino, i think it's like 3 bucks for 8hrs or something at those meters? lol

lol...I don't feel safe parking my car there. I'd spend all day being paranoid haha

no doubt...the body parts I found are in better shape than what I had before the accident. :thumb:

the exhaust I'm going to run is off the newer style bikes...short can down low along the bottom so no more long exhaust coming up the side of the bike.

Newer R6's are equipped with cat's which is what partially allows them to make the canister so small on the exhaust system. My bike doesn't have a cat so it's going to sound insane and should perform really well too. Not to mention it's going to be pretty unique.

slip-on exhaust systems for the older bikes are getting harder to find...always back ordered and pretty $$. This allows me to use the current products available to the 2006 and up R6 ;)

Also a nice resale feature.
