I think this is the right place to post this. I want to know how to do borders of pictures in Photoshop, including stretching the lower border just half an inch and squeezing some writing in it. The writing part is for my sig for the forums.

there are a bunch of ways to do borders, but one method i use is that i'll create a new layer, CTRL + A (select all), click the menu option EDIT and select STROKE. then simply enter how wide you'd like the border (in pixels) and the color you'd like your border to be, and hit ok. if you mess up you can always UNDO or del the layer and try again.
when you say "stretching the lower border" do you mean having the bottom border thicker than the sides and top?
yes i did mean that.
i did the border, cool. but yes, how do you stretch the lower part of the border...
Damn, this is what I've managed for my signature.
Sucks, cause i wanted the pic to be grayscale and the writing to be purple, wouldn't let me do that.
I also wanted the writing to be on the nose panel just below the headlight.
I used to king of photoshop 5...

for...
Grayscale:
- select your img layer
- go to Image > Mode > grayscale if you want it truly grayscale it. there are other methods, but this is the simplest
Lower Stroke:
- simplest way....create a new layer
- use the rectangular marquee tool (second icon in the left toolbar) and draw the desired size of your fill area
- select the color you'd like your fill to be in your color palette (in this case, black)
- use the Fill tool from the left toolbar and click within your selected area
Text:
- rasterize the layer and use the free transform tool/skew/rotate tools to get your desired deformation of the text
got it, not how do i make the picture grayscale but the text in colour?
